- Abstract
Symmetries have played and still play a profound role in physics. To all scales, from particle physics to cosmology, symmetries are essential ingredients for describing and understanding our physical world. In the following I concentrate on the underlying symmetry principles that guided Einstein in the search for a new theory: from Special to General Relativity and to Cosmology.
