The Erwin Schrödinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics (ESI) is set to host the workshop "Lensing and Wave Optics in Strong Gravity" from December 9 to 13, 2024, in Vienna. Organized by Pedro Cunha (UAVR), Marius A. Oancea (U of Vienna) and Miguel Zumalacárregui (MPIGP, Potsdam), zhis event will convene experts to discuss gravitational lensing phenomena in strong gravitational fields, such as those near supermassive black holes observed by the Event Horizon Telescope, and the implications for gravitational wave observations by collaborations like LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA. The workshop aims to address current challenges, share methodologies between electromagnetic and gravitational wave lensing studies, and explore advanced wave effects beyond standard lensing approaches.
More information on the workshop can be found at ESI's website.
